Amplification | ONGAKU is Here!
We showed the ONGAKU for the first time in its new form at CES in 2004 and since then Andy and I have spent many an hour perfecting the componentry and circuit, the greatest improvement came when we finally got some high voltage insulated 99.99% silver wire in July which allowed us to wind proper bifilar wound silver wired interstage/driver transformers, the model shown in January 2004 at CES had copper wired transformers of the same design, but a slightly lesser core material, changing to the silver wired versions was a revelation.

This upgrade and the move to a differentiated input - driver stage valve configuration (the original model shown in 2004 had 2 x 6463 as input and driver valves) where the character of the 6463 is now not repeated in two subsequent stages, the final version of the "World's Best Amplifier" now looks as follows,
Input stage, 1 x CV4068 Brimar
Driver stage 1 x 6463 Telefunken
Output stage 2 x VT4-C/UV211
Power supply 2 x 5R4WGB

The rest of the configuration is the same as before with masses of Black Gates, tantalum resistors and silver wire! The name really speaks for itself, a worthy carrier of the name ONGAKU.
